Timbre ("we," "us," or "our") is a voice calibration tool that helps you define and maintain your writing voice across AI tools. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

Account information — your name and email address, provided through Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication.
Writing samples — the text you submit during exercises, calibration sprints, and journal entries. These are stored in your account and used to generate and refine your Style Guide.
Style Guide data — the AI-generated voice profile derived from your writing samples.
Onboarding preferences — the tools and purposes you select when you first set up your account.
Usage data — basic interaction data such as pages visited and features used, collected to improve the product.

How we use your data

To generate and maintain your personal Style Guide.
To power the calibration and journal features within your account.
To authenticate you securely via Google Sign-In.
To improve Timbre's features and reliability.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your writing samples to train AI models beyond generating your own Style Guide.

Third-party services

Timbre uses the following third-party services to operate:

Google Firebase — authentication and data storage. Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore under your account. Firebase Privacy Policy
Google Gemini API — AI analysis of your writing samples to produce your Style Guide. Writing samples are transmitted to Google's Gemini API for this purpose. Gemini API Terms

Data retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), Firebase security rules that enforce per-user data access, and server-side handling of API credentials. Your writing samples are never shared with other users.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the date at the top when we do. Continued use of Timbre after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
